Dye Corduroy - Kingdom in the Sun
The definitive nod to all sensibilities of nostalgic undertows, this track almost lends a voyeuristic semi autobiographical albeit poetic look into days gone by in Riyadh. It comes full circle with the ambivalence of alienation & belonging.
I had a dream; I had a big machine
I had a heart that was beating fast;
I had a face painted on my mask.
The sun at its peak; the afternoon heat
Beating mirages on the street;
The gravel cutting through my feet
I was sitting on my throne; waiting for the final stone
To cast a shadow on my mind; & make me falter from this climb
When my friends were ready to roll; & the days were set in gold
When the world fit in my shoes; & the desert filled up my soul
I was a theif; i was a turning leaf
Stealing the innocence of youth;
Bleeding my heart, waiting for you
The dark of the night; I promised fluorescent lights
That I would return back to the place;
Where i can’t belong but cant replace
I’ve been sitting by the phone; wishing on the tainted drone
I was nearly overthrown; barely made my way back home
When this artificial life; was like the blunt end of a knife
When the wreckage washes ashore; I’ll be breaking down your door
